When News Crews Come Calling…

In my public relations role, there is no such thing as a typical day – especially when the media calls with an immediate story need. This past March, WISN Channel 12, the ABC affiliate in Milwaukee, contacted me with a story opportunity about how the recent storms were affecting our production of home standby generators.

After gathering the facts, I went into immediate logistics mode for the segment that would air later that night. As the reporter and cameraman headed for Kohler, I contacted Melanie, Kohler’s Senior Channel Manager of Residential Generators to clear her schedule for the interview.

Once the cameraman and reporter arrived, we met at the Kohler Design Center to film Melanie’s portion of the interview. In front of our generator display, she talked about our home generators and how they’ve helped families become prepared for power outages.

Then, we were off to our manufacturing facility a few miles north of Kohler. The Channel 12 team signed in and suited up in steel-toed shoes and safety glasses to film one of our production lines.

The crew on the line was excited to see the TV camera, and our manufacturing superintendent, John, answered a few remaining questions about our increased production. As the camera man filmed some remaining shots, the reporter and I were busy finalizing information for the segment.

Check out the video and as you watch it, know that I’m behind the camera listening and watching very closely to make sure you’re getting the facts and information about KOHLER Generators.

And then my phone rings again!
